Campaign Rhetoric is Out...Are you Falling for it?

Dear Friend of Life,

We are just shy of a month away from the May 8th Indiana primary elections, and Republican candidates across the state are working hard to convince you they are what you need in Indy.

They hope you’ll believe their campaign rhetoric long enough to earn your support, but oftentimes their language changes from election season to legislative session.

For example, it is election season now and Representative Ben Smaltz is currently campaigning as a pro-lifer who wants all abortion to be illegal, but just a year ago, during the legislative session, he declared his wife better be able to get an abortion if she needs one*.

Not to mention, Smaltz killed the Protection at Conception bill, a bill that would’ve protected all unborn babies at the moment of conception, not once, but TWICE, and Planned Parenthood publicly thanked him for it.

So, you see, what a politician SAYS during election season is often more conservative than how they actually behave when they think no one is watching.

And, until now, so-called “pro-life” candidates have been able to get away with it.

But, I’m determined to hold legislators accountable and get them on record with their pro-life stance to compare what they say during election time with what they do once in office.

That’s why I sent the Hoosiers for Life Candidate Survey to candidates across the state. I’ve received great responses from both politicians and residents who want to see an end to abortion in Indiana.

The deadline for returning them has come and gone, but I had some last minute survey responses trickle in.

Not surprisingly, Ben Smaltz’s survey is still missing. He REFUSES to go on record against the killing of preborn babies in Indiana, but that’s to be expected from a guy who killed the bill that would’ve ended abortion in Indiana two years in a row.

To see what your candidate had to say about protecting all babies at conception, go here. After that, forward this email to your friends who may be interested in how their candidate responded.

Also, make sure you’ve signed your Protection of Life Petition, showing your support for protecting all unborn babies at the moment of conception.

Thank you for your strong stance for LIFE in Indiana. It has been a long time since pro-life candidates have been held to a righteous standard, and so we have a lot of work to do. But, I know we can do it, and I know Hoosier babies are worth it.

I also know we are united in our stand to show civility toward unborn children and protect ALL babies from the clutches of abortionists.

And getting these politicians on record with their pro-life intentions will allow us to track their behavior in office and determine who really means to uphold a preborn child’s right to live.

For LIFE,

Amy Schlichter

P.S. The May 8th primary election is less than a month away, and Candidate Survey late arrivals have trickled in, but Rep. Ben Smaltz’s survey is not one of them. I’m not surprised he still REFUSES to turn it in, since his pro-life campaign rhetoric does not match his behavior during legislative session.

To see how candidates in your area answered our Candidate Survey, go HERE.

Make sure you’ve signed your Protection of Life Petition, showing your support for protecting all unborn babies at the moment of conception.
